When you’re traveling the world, documenting your journey can be a huge part of your adventures. Rather than just taking a few photos – which let’s be honest, no one looks at – try creating a travel journal. You can write about the people you meet, the foods you’ve tasted, words you’ve learned of the local language, the stories you have to tell, and even give yourself a few travel tips for later on in life, whether you decide you want to return to that destination or want to pass on your knowledge to friends and family!
Embracing Technology
It doesn’t matter if you’re backpacking or staying in a hotel, chances are, your phone is with you. Instead of keeping an actual notebook, try embracing the technology on hand instead. There are many travel journey apps, which means you can save a virtual copy of your journal that won’t ever disappear or get lost!
The Fine Details
When you look back on the trips you took over the years, what comes to mind? You probably most vividly remember the attractions you saw and the foods you ate. Try and include details within your travel journal, the smells you remember, the tastes that excited you, the aroma of the cafes you sat at, maybe even the way you felt on that specific day, anything that will bring you back to that exact moment is a moment worth writing about!
Mixed Media
When keeping a travel journal, it’s easy to stick to writing. After all, it is a journal! But that doesn’t mean that you can’t add media into your virtual journal. Add photos of your adventures, as well as train tickets, brochures, and random keepsakes that will remind you of your experiences. If you’re keeping a virtual journal, you can even add videos or music clippings.
