She’s Got Elite Acting Chops
Waller-Bridge attended the exclusive RADA or Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London. She’s part of a prestigious alum that includes the likes of Ralph Fiennes, Vivien Leigh, and Alan Rickman.
Waller-Bridge’s Sister Was the Music Composer for Fleabag
The love-hate sibling relationship in Fleabag is perhaps one of the show’s most defining portrayals. Waller-Bridge and Sian Clifford‘s depiction of complex sisterly relationships make up some of the best moments in the show. What most people don’t know is that Waller-Bridge’s sister composed the soundtrack for Fleabag. The two get along incredibly well in real life.
She Auditioned for Downton Abbey
Downton Abbey kept global audiences hooked to their screens from 2010 to 2015. The much-loved period drama featured the who’s who of British television. Waller-Bridge tried out for a role and famously stated how she blew the audition. She gave it her everything but with an unintended outcome — the part was quite serious, while Waller-Bridge is insanely hilarious and couldn’t be anyone but herself while auditioning. They loved her but ended with an, “Oh, yeah, you’re not right.”
She Comes From British Nobility
Waller-Bridge has gone on record to state her admiration for the late Queen Elizabeth II. It turns out that she’s got some noble blood herself as well. Waller-Bridge is related to Sir John Edward Longueville Clerke and Sir Egerton Leigh — both landed gentry in the 19th century. Clerke was a World War II military captain and held the title of a baronet. Leigh was a prominent politician and a member of the UK parliament.
She Had to Google What a “Droid” Was
Waller-Bridge was in a fix while auditioning for a part in “Solo: A Star Wars Story.” She had no clue what a “droid” was! In an interview on The Graham Norton Show, she revealed that she didn’t know what the word meant. She’d never seen a Star Wars film before. Google was no help either, so she read for the part as a human. Despite the general bewilderment all around, Waller-Bridge got the part of Revolutionary L3-37.
