There are certain places we go to that we wish would never change. But for those who get bored of being in the same camping spot over and over again, here are a few ideas to make your next excursion a bit more extreme.
Consider camping and learning about history at the same time. Relive special moments in history, be among those soldiers who fought during the civil war, lived through medieval times, and more. Camp like a soldier, try camping like people used to do back then, with very little equipment and facilities. But remember that it isn’t always easy to take part in these activities. It is possible that you’d have to be a member of an organization to join in.
Bike camping is easier to plan and set up nowadays, thanks to lighter bicycle materials and upgraded gears that make pedaling uphill and going downhill much smoother and easier to do. Plus, there’s a wider variety of outdoor gear in the market, so it’s cheaper, more durable, and less heavy. Take a trip with a friend and go bike camping for a night or two in the mountains.
In recent years, minimal camping has grown more popular, thanks to outdoor shows on TV. It’s a little bit like a survival series, where you carry along only the basic stuff in a lightweight bag. A 30-liter backpack should be a good start. It isn’t the most comfortable way to camp, that’s for sure, but each time can be a learning experience; to exist with only the bare necessities can be challenging and fun, in a different, fulfilling way.
