When Rachel Bilson and Hayden Christensen met on the set of “Jumper” they “jumped” right in. Not long after production wrapped up, Bilson was already snapped donning an engagement ring.
The couple would have an on-and-off relationship until they realized it was “go time” and welcomed their daughter Briar in 2014. Three years later, however, the couple got divorced. The ex-couple maintains a decent relationship. The kind that includes joint trips to Disneyland.
Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan
They wowed us in "Step Up" all the way back in 2006, kicking off a beautiful union that lasted well over a decade. But in 2019, Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan, two super talented dancers and actors, took their final bow as a couple.
The ex-partners co-parent their daughter Everly whom they welcomed in 2013. It hasn't been easy, and while both are finding themselves in new relationships (whispers of a spark between Tatum and Zoë Kravitz) they're committed to making it work.
Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber
Between 2005 and 2016, the Aussie starlet and her fellow actor hubby, Liev Schrieber were a happily married couple, juggling domestic demands with Hollywood life. And boy, did they do it perfectly. They met at the Metropolitan Museum of Art's annual costume ball in 2005 and sparks flew.
Sadly, over a decade later, these two called it quits. With two sons, Alexander and Samuel (kudos on the normie names) the ex-pair now makes it their number one mission to keep things as amicable as possible. During lockdown, the family spent time together and even posted TikToks of cute dances with their boys.
Amber Portwood and Andrew Glennon
Amber Portwood got her start in the spotlight in 2009 in the MTV hit reality show "16 and Pregnant." The partners have come and gone, but Amber is committed to making things work.
Some run-ins with the law aside, Portwood tries to be on good terms with her latest ex-partner, cinematographer Andrew Glennon, all for the sake of their son James. That is of course in addition to her first daughter whom she had when she was sixteen.
Robin Thicke and Paula Patton
Singer Robin Thicke and actress Paula Patton were together since they were teens. As one can imagine, fans were shocked by the crushing split in 2014. It wasn't an easy road but after the barrage of ugly accusations that took place in the courtroom, the embittered exes sought couples counseling.
It took time but things turned around and the two are now crushing it once more, this time with co-parenting their son Julian. The two have claimed that their communication is so much better these days. Well, we're happy to hear all that therapy worked.
Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale
We have no doubt that these two are champions of co-parenting, and although things are rosy now, it did come at quite the cost. Yep, the British rocker Gavin Rossdale of "Bush" was allegedly unfaithful to Gwen and had a secret relationship with the nanny.
The two made an effort to unite for the sake of their three sons Kingston, Zuma, and Apollo. After thirteen years of marriage, the two musicians are managing pretty well. Of course, like most couples, they had their fair share of issues when they found themselves cooped up at home together in 2020.
Anderson Cooper and Benjamin Maisani
Our favorite news anchor Anderson Cooper met his ex-beau, Frenchman, Benjamin Maisani back in 2009. In fact, the two reportedly met at Maisani's bar, a rather famous hotspot for the rich and famous. Nine years later sadly, the two split. A year later, Cooper welcomed his baby boy, Wyatt via a surrogate.
According to the CNN reporter, the addition of the new baby was one of the reasons the relationship didn't quite work out. Ironically, the French entrepreneur turned out to be a wonderful parent who is now very much part of their son's life.
Kate Hudson and Co.
It's not too clear how this all works, but one thing is for sure, Kate Hudson loves her rockstars, as she apparently has had a kid with three different ones. She had her son Ryder Robinson is with Chris Robinson, founder of The Black Crowes; another son, Bingham, with Matt Bellamy from Muse, and a daughter, Rani, with Danny Fujikawa —a third musician.
Hudson seems to be the master at juggling and navigating this complex and colorful family. Luckily, all these men seem to be on board too. Her secret? "Drop the ego," she says.
Dina Lohan and Michael Lohan
We all know Lindsay Lohan has had her fair share of personal dramas — we've certainly seen them strewn over gossip mags over the years — but did you know she is just one-fourth of a very complicated family?
Yep, Dina and Michael Lohan are parents not only to Lindsay but also to Michael Jr., Ali, and Cody. When they got divorced in 2007, a nasty custody battle ensued. As the kids are all now older, the parents have worked hard to try and maintain a healthy relationship with all their kids.
Cheryl Cole and Liam Payne
The pop star and X-Factor judge Cheryl Cole had her fair share of relationships before meeting fellow singer Liam Payne. Unfortunately, that too was short-lived. Their relationship did however result in a son named Bear.
The songstress is super private about her little one but has opened up on her and her ex's parenting styles. According to her, she's the strict one and Liam is the softie. Well, we'll admit, sounds like she knows how to handle it all!
Kendra Wilkinson and Hank Baskett
Once upon a time before all the kids and the custody battles, Kendra Wilkinson was one of Hugh Hefner's most famous girlfriends. Fast forward many years later and the reality TV star is now successfully co-parenting her two kids with American football player Hank Baskett since 2018.
It's been a hard road but, according to Kendra "time heals all." The couple share custody of their two kids Hank and Alijah.
Amber Rose and Wiz Khalifa
It takes a special effort to model Amber Rose and Rapper Wiz Khalifa to state that co-parenting is never about the grown-up’s feelings. Rose was quoted saying that, “Even if you technically still have feelings for that person, maybe right after the breakup, it’s not about your feelings, it’s not about what they’re doing in their personal life, it’s about the kids.”
Rose and Khalifa said their I do's in 2013, the same year they had their son, Sebastian. Rose filed for divorce the following year. They currently share custody.
Taye Diggs and Idina Menzel
When these two dynamite Broadway stars united we expected nothing less than eternal love and a song in our hearts. Sadly this is real life and Idina Menzel and Taye Diggs decided to call it quits in 2014 after over a decade.
The "Rent" costars tied the knot in 2003, six years later welcoming their son. Taye and Idina both agreed that they love their son Walker more than anything and will do whatever's ultimately best for him. Sometimes you just gotta say "let it go."
Irina Shayk and Bradley Cooper
We all fell in love with Irina Shayk and Bradley Cooper, and even when those Lady Gaga rumors swirled during "A Star is Born," we tried to not let that shake us. These two seemed solid.
Alas, it didn't hold, and Cooper's crazy schedule was reportedly one of the reasons that this didn't stick (no, not Gaga.) Fortunately, according to Shayk, her ex-hubby is a super hands-on dad.
Audrina Patridge and Corey Bohan
"The Hills" star Audrina Patridge met the father of her child, Corey Bohan. We caught a glimpse of the man, a professional BMX rider from Australia, on the reality show. The two welcomed their daughter Kirra in 2016, a year after they got hitched.
Unfortunately, following ugly legal issues and ultimate divorce, Audrina proved to be better off alone. Fortunately, when it comes to co-parenting, "the Hills" star makes an effort to keep things "kid-friendly."
Christina Aguilera and Jordan Bratman
Sadly, the legendary songstress Christina Aguilera and her ex-hubby didn't make it. Still, the marketing exec Jordan Bratman, whom she met during a recording session in 2005, has proved that family values conquer all.
In 2011, they decided to call it quits but have been there for their son Max every step of the way. In fact, Aguilera is expertly managing this blended family since having her second kid, a daughter with her current guitarist beau, Mathew Rutler.
Alicia Silverstone and Christopher Jarecki
After thirteen years of marriage, the "Clueless" star divorced her musician husband Christopher Jarecki. But it's not all bad. The two share a son named Bear Blu whom they successfully co-parent together!
Silverstone admitted that she even lets Bear decide where he wants to spend his time, and according to the actress, he loves it. Most importantly, Bear gets to spend time with two ex-partners who have a healthy friendship.
Courteney Cox and David Arquette
We've seen Monica's idyllic life play out on our favorite sitcom, but things didn't quite work out off-screen for Courteney Cox, at least for some time.
After her divorce from actor David Arquette in 2010 (after eleven years) they had some figuring out to do. For the sake of their daughter Coco who was born in 2004, the two are now good friends and even run a production company together.
Wendy Williams and Kevin Hunter
When Kevin Hunter, the former executive producer of his ex-wife's talk show, up and left, it created a major storm. According to The Sun, he is now a barbershop owner in Florida living with his long-time mistress and their lovechild. Yikes.
But that didn't break Wendy down, who admitted in a Sirius XM interview that the love is still there and that she hopes to be friends with him. Not only because of their son Kevin Jr.! Pretty admirable.
Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey
Nick Cannon has a whole new approach to the concept of co-parenting, saying that that phrase is really just redundant. "You can’t co-parent, you have to parent, and that’s what we do well because when it comes to our children, we’re selfless individuals — they’re first."
We're going to have to go ahead and agree with you there, Nick. With a pair of adorable twins to take care of, we're certain the legendary Mariah feels the same way.
Denise Richards and Charlie Sheen
There's nothing Denise Richards wants more than to have a healthy relationship with her ex-husband and infamous bad boy, Charlie Sheen. Well, she succeeded! Together they take care of their three kids, Sam, Lola, and Elouise.
At one point in time, Richards was granted temporary custody of Sheen's twins with actress Brooke Mueller. Can someone get this woman the "mom of the decade" medal?
Drew Barrymore and Will Kopelman
Our darling Drew Barrymore is no stranger to unorthodox parenting. After almost four years of marriage, Drew and Will decided to throw in the towel all while making things as good as possible for their kids Olive and Frankie.
It's not all bad though. These days Drew has created a work-life balance that aligns perfectly with the needs of her kids. She also really enjoys seeing Will be a father. Looks like you don't always need a successful marriage to make it work.
Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr
Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr, two Hollywood beauts are also doing the blended family act. Once a couple, the two split in 2013 after three years together. Don't worry, they're currently with two pretty impressive individuals nowadays.
Bloom found love once again in the form of mega pop star Katy Perry, while Kerr got snatched up by Evan Spiegel, the tech mogul and founder of Snapchat. Together they co-parent their son Flynn while raising kids with their new respective partners!
Shaquille O’Neal and Shaunie O’Neal
It takes a village, and no one knows that better than Shaq and Shaunie O'Neal. The two wed in 2002 and had four kids, Shareef, Amirah, Shaqir, and Me’arah.
After their divorce in 2011, the two found love in other relationships and had a kid each with new partners. Now that's a pretty huge family. We think the O'Neils have got this though.
Alexis Bellino and Jim Bellino
If you ever tuned in to the "Real Housewives of Orange County" you may have picked up on the already shaky marriage between Alexis and Jim Bellino. Jim had a hard time coping with Alexis's need for independence, as well as her career ambitions.
Can you guess what happened next? Good job. Disagreements aside, Alexis tries her hardest to think of the kids; James, Mackenna, and Melania. It's all about respect according to the reality TV star.
Tarek El Moussa and Christina Haack
"Flip or Flop" hosts Tarek El Moussa and Christina Haack made a living out giving people their perfect home. Unfortunately, after seven years together, their own home was split apart when they decided to divorce in 2016.
The two continued to not only pull it together for their son Brayden and daughter Taylor, but they also continued to host together AND even currently live two blocks from each other.
Michael Sheen and Kate Beckinsale
It was 1995, and the quirky little Welsh actor Michael Sheen fell head over heels for English rose Kate Beckinsale, it was only upward from there. Until they reached 2003 of course when Hollywood demands started to tear them apart.
We blame Kate's blockbuster hit "Van Helsing." The two fought to keep their daughter Lilly's life as stable as possible. Even with the geographical obstacles. It all worked out!
Megan Fox and Brian Austin Green
Before Megan Fox created her media storm with Machine Gun Kelly, she was married to "Beverly Hills 90210" star, Brian Austin Green. The was quite an age difference (she was 18 and he was 30) but after multiple engagements, the two tied the knot in 2010.
Ten years later they called it quits, and we all know what that looks like now. But as far as their kids Noah, Bodhi, and Journey are concerned, the two are solid as ever. According to Green, their love will always be there. In fact, they even still take family vacations together!
Rachel Bilson and Hayden Christensen
When Rachel Bilson and Hayden Christensen met on the set of "Jumper" they "jumped" right in. Not long after production wrapped up, Bilson was already snapped donning an engagement ring.
The couple would have an on-and-off relationship until they realized it was "go time" and welcomed their daughter Briar in 2014. Three years later, however, the couple got divorced. The ex-couple maintains a decent relationship. The kind that includes joint trips to Disneyland.
Wayne Brady and Mandie Taketa
Comedian Wayne Brady said no more to "yes and..." (that's an improv reference, folks!) But naturally, even after his seven-year marriage to Mandie Taketa, Wayne insists that there is no better mom than his ex-wife.
We're happy for you, Wayne. That sure makes co-parenting a lot easier. According to Wayne, it's his daughter Mailie that gives him the greatest feeling of success. Sweet.
Joe Giudice and Teresa Giudice
It's not every day that both spouses get locked up, released, and live happily ever after. Tune in to "The Real Housewives of New Jersey" if you're feeling a little lost.
Needless to say, after some heavy drama and a lot of infidelities, Joe and Teresa Guidice split up after twenty years. For the sake of their daughters Gia, Gabriella, and Audriana, however, they have maintained a good friendship.
Joey Fatone and Kelly Baldwin
Remember Joey from NSYNC? Of course, you do, it wasn't all about JT! He was with Kelly Baldwin since high school, got married in 2004, and had a daughter! But in 2014...you guessed it.
The two have been successfully raising their very sweet daughter. And guess who her godfather is? Lance Bass! We feel with his involvement alone, they're all doing okay!
Brandi Glanville and Eddie Cibrian
Yet another TV reality star made it to this list. Brandi Glanville and Eddie Cibrian of "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" ended their marriage when it was revealed that Cibrian began a relationship with LeAnn Rimes.
That's a good enough reason, and our hearts go out to Brandi. For their sons Mason and Jake, the two work hard to put the personal fights aside, though sometimes, according to the former Housewife star, it's not always easy.
Pete Wentz and Ashlee Simpson
Fall Out Boy guitarist Pete Wentz and singer Ashlee Simpson had their moment. But, as we all can tell, even emo kids and teen popstars eventually grow up and end up playing family. In addition to co-parenting their son, Bronx, the two both have additional kids with their new partners.
Simpson welcomed her son Jagger with new hubby Evan Ross and Wentz has a son Saint and daughter Marvel with his girlfriend, Meagan Camper. We do love big families.
Kristin Cavallari and Jay Cutler
You may remember Kristin Cavallari from "Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County" as a teen just partying it up in the OC. But fast-forward many years later Kristin is now a mom of three, juggling her kids and work-life balance. Oh, and of course her ex Jay Cutler is there too.
She and the former quarterback are navigating the complexities of co-parenting in the best way possible. They may not have it all figured out but one thing at least Kristin knows is that their "three kids are lucky to have him as their daddy.”
Paul Nassif and Adrienne Maloof
Dear future "Real Housewives" contestants, before you go on the show, consider how good your marriage is. Because it seems almost every one of them got divorced after the show. Paul Nassif and Adrienne Maloof are no exception.
They divorced after ten years of marriage, but apparently have been doing great, learning how to come together for their boys Gavin and twins Colin and Christian.
Kimora Lee Simmons and Russell Simmons
While this is technically all about co-parents crushing the modern family, Kimora Lee Simmons, ex-wife of music mogul Russel Simmons has admitted that she's really the more hands-on parent.
The pair who married in 1998 and called it quits in 2007 share daughters Ming and Aoki. While Kimora is the mom boss, Russell is there for the ride.
Demi Moore and Bruce Willis
If you're a couple that's planning on splitting up, take note of Demi Moore and Bruce Willis. This former Hollywood pair has not only successfully juggled their family while in new relationships, but they also just spent intense time cooped up at home together throughout the tougher bits of 2020, all for the sake of family.
They have had a lot of time to recover though. The couple got together in 1987 and split in the year 2000. It's safe to say that there's been some healing time. According to Rumer, they will always opt for holiday events together instead of separately.
Zooey Deschanel and Jacob Pechenik
Zooey Deschanel, our manic pixie dream queen has had her own fair share of relationship struggles. The actress divorced her producer husband Jacob Pechenik in 2019 after ten years of marriage. A marriage that gave them two lovely kids Elsie Otter, and Charlie Wolf (indie band names much?)
Due to this, they've successfully united in the name of their kids. On the current situation, Deschanel has remarked, "Everything is amicable and we have beautiful children together that are that way because we were the parents. We’ve been raising them and we’re going to continue to raise them and take great care of them."
Drake and Sophie Brussaux
Little Adonis is the lucky son of parents Drake and French artist Sophie Brussax. Drake's family status was kept under wraps for a while until he actually dropped the fact in a track. In the song, he mentioned the names of both his son and the mother.
These days the Canadian rapper and Sophie both reside in Toronto where they are at the center of some major family support. That sounds super helpful.
Blac Chyna, Rob Kardashian, and Tyga
Blac Chyna's relationships have been pretty highly publicized, probably in part because of her links to the most famous family in America; the Kardashians (both directly and indirectly). Now that both relationships are behind her, she has been free to focus on her kids from the respective exes.
With Tyga, Chyna shares a son King Cairo and a daughter with Rob Kardashian. The two men have been successfully navigating the ins and outs of co-parenting their kids. But we say the real hero is Blac Chyna.
Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott
The Kardashians are experts when it comes to co-parenting, so why should Kylie Jenner be any different? The public was kept in the dark when it came to Jenner's pregnancy but soon was all revealed when she gave birth to daughter Stormi Webster in 2018.
Stormi's father, rapper Travis Scott and her put their on and off relationship behind. The parents are now quite simply best friends, at least according to Kylie. Well, she's certainly learned from the best.
Khloé Kardashian and Tristan Thompson
It's no secret that Khloé Kardashian and Tristan Thompson have had their struggles. Nothing's really private when it comes to the Kardashian affairs, especially relationships. With that said, the two at least try and see eye to eye when it comes to their daughter True.
Khloé has, however, been quite vocal about the pain she's felt throughout the relationship, but she will never let that come in between Tristan's relationship with True. We admire you, Khloé!
Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin
Between 2003 and 2014 Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin were probably the most enviable couple in showbiz. Gwyneth, a gorgeous A-lister actress, and Chris, the frontman of one of the world's biggest rock bands. So, as you can imagine, when they decided to "consciously uncouple" the news sent shockwaves.
It was a tough journey but the two made sure that their kids, Apple and Moses, would come out of this "unscathed" and it looks like they succeeded. The family unit has been maintained as best as possible.
Ne-Yo and Monyetta Shaw
Singer Ne-Yo and businesswoman and philanthropist Monyetta Shaw were together for many years and produced two lovely kids Madilyn and Mason. But when Ne-Yo decided it was time to move on with his new beau, TV star Crystal Renay, it was a crushing blow for Shaw.
Still, that didn't stop the two from putting aside their issues for their two kids. Ne-Yo is now father to a daughter with Renay, though last time we checked, that relationship was a little rocky, too. Thankfully this doesn't get in the way of the kids!
Mayim Bialik and Michael Stone
Mayim Bialik and Michael Stone had a decent run but the nerd actress/neuroscientist decided that it was time to move on. The actress has spoken about how happy she is with the relationship she has with her ex-husband, saying "I’m so incredibly grateful [..] for all of the work that we’ve put in to be able to have the kind of conversations we have to have."
It seems to have paid off because the family gets together to spend time on Thanksgiving, despite the hardships. No doubt their kids Frederick and Miles were only too happy.
Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick
If you've kept track of Kourtney Kardashian and Scott Disick's turbulent relationship over the years on "Keeping Up with the Kardashians," you'll know that it wasn't the most stable. Now that Kourtney has officially moved on with hubby Travis Barker, Kourtney and Scott have had to step up their co-parenting game to make sure things are smooth sailing for Mason, Penelope, and Reign.
Plus throw in Travis's kids from his previous marriage into the mix and the Barker-Kardashian have a full house!
Iggy Azalea and Playboi Carti
We weren't exactly able to get too much info on the Iggy Azalea and Playboi Carti's affair, so we're guessing that their relationship wasn't all sunshine and roses. What they did get out of it though was a lovely son named Onyx, born in 2020.
Iggy did drop a hint that co-parenting vibes have been good when she wrote on her Instagram that "Onyx is so loved by his dad and has always had both parents in his life from day one."
Alex Rodriguez and Cynthia Scurtis
We're all obsessed with J.Lo, her reignited spark with Ben Affleck, and her divorce to baseball star Alex Rodriguez. That said, amidst all the drama, we totally forgot about A-Rod's previous marriage to Cynthia Scurtis.
Together, the couple has two daughters, Natasha, and Ella. Speaking about their breakup, Rodriguez has said, “We positioned what could be perceived as a negative into a positive, by saying to the girls, ‘Look, now you don’t have one house, you have two houses [..] You don’t have two parents, you have four parents.'”
Meghan King and Jim Edmonds
Many couples on this list seem to be "crushing" co-parenting with a modern approach or just good old-fashioned communication. Sadly, not everyone is quite there and other couples are struggling, but they deserve a mention for the effort. So here's to Meghan King and Jim Edmonds.
According to Us Weekly, King said "I think there’s ebbs and flows in the … progression of a divorce and when it comes to co-parenting and moving on and all that … I’m really hopeful that, you know, time heals everything."
