Thorunn, initially a servant, is introduced during a dinner party held by Ragnar. Her name is actually a Norse name which could have actually been captured in wars among Norse tribes.
After being freed from slavery by Aslaug, Thorunn eventually transitions into Shield-maiden. In the first few seasons, Bjorn, though significantly above Thorunn’s status, falls madly in love with her.

She then decided to start acting in 1999 after attending the London Academy of Music and Dramatic art.

Queen Aslaug, daughter to the legendary Shield-maiden Brynhildr, became the second wife of Ragnar Lothbrok. She was believed to be a volva, someone who could see the future through visions.

Floki, who also happens to be Ragnar Lothbrok’s peculiar and closest friend, is a boat builder and inveterate trickster. He is also the father of the late Angrboda, the adoptive father of the late Tanaruz, and the husband of the late Helga.
The actor behind the role, Gustaf Caspar Orm Skarsgård, is actually one of the rare true Scandinavians on the show. The actor’s father, Stellan Skarsgård, is actually known for playing the role of Bootstrap Bill Turner in Pirates of the Caribbean movies and Professor Gerald Lambeau in Good Will Hunting, among his other titles.
Gustaf Skarsgård - Flóki
Gustaf Skarsgård is a Swedish actor, best known outside Scandinavia for his role on the show, as well as his roles in the films The Way Back, Evil, and Kon-Tiki.
Most recently, he played the role of Karl Strand in the second season of the hit HBO series Westworld. Though Flóki has a distinct bearded look, Gustaf actually prefers a clean-shaven and professional look in real life.

He has the ability to communicate with the gods and see the future and fate of one’s life.

Torvi is a Shield-maiden, princess, and the ex-wife of Jari Borg. After her husband’s death, Torvi ends up marrying the abusive Erlendur.
Erlendur is also eventually murdered by Torvi herself and runs away to live in Kattegat with Bjorn, the firstborn son of Ragnar.

Georgia Hirst is actually the younger sister of Maude Hirst, who played Helga on the show. She’s best known for her role on Vikings, which by the way, was her first break out role! She’s most recently done some work on the film Ravers.
Other than that, the actress hasn’t appeared much in major films or shows.

Rollo Sigurdsson is Ragnar Lothbrok’s older brother and Duke of Normandy. He is also the father of William Marcellus, and Celsa, and husband of princess Gisla.
Rollo earned the reputation of being the fearsome Viking warrior who had an impulsive streak with internal struggles. Though Rollo has his signature long hair, the actor behind the role actually doesn’t sport such a look.

Clive Standen is a British actor, best known for his astounding number of television roles that include Bryan Mills in the NBC series Taken, Sir Gawain in the series Camelot, Archer in the BBC series Robin Hood and Private Carl Harris in the sci-fi show Doctor Who.

Jordan Smith is a Scottish-Australian actor with an irresistible and charming accent. After several guest roles, Smith was finally given the role of Andrew Robinson in the soap opera Neighbours.
The actor then appeared in the film Unbroken, the historical drama Banished, and of course, Vikings.

Therese was a Noblewoman of the West Franks who resided at the court of Emperor Charles of Frankia. She also attempted to manipulate Count Odo, eventually becoming his mistress.
She is first introduced in Season 3, appearing at the cathedral praying for the city of Paris.

She was a kind and gentle daughter who was just about to learn the ways of the Vikings.

Elinor Crawley - Thyri
Thyri was the daughter of Earl and Siggy Haraldson’s daughter but just like Gyda, Thyri, unfortunately, succumbed to the plague in Kattegat. She’s first introduced in Season 1 where she is offered in marriage to Rollo by her father. Earl’s purpose for such offer was to coax Rollo into testifying against his brother, Ragnar Lothbrok.
Thyri was Earl and Siggy Haraldson’s daughter and just like Ragnar Lothrok’s daughter Gyda, Thyri died at the hand of the plague.

Elinor Crawley is a Welsh actress, best known for her role on the show as Thyri. She has also gained some popularity for portraying Cecily of York in The White Queen.
She also made appearances on Law & Order: UK, Ordinary Lies, and Doctors. Her passion and skill for acting began at The Workshop, a television and film performance training project based in Cardiff.

Though he can occasionally be perceived as weak by many nobles of his court, Emperor Charles is, in reality, a merciless and sly politician who works toward eliminating all his weaknesses and grab all possible opportunities.

Lothaire Bluteau is a Canadian actor who performs in both English and French. Before the show, Lothaire had already worked in theatre, film, and television throughout Canada and even internationally. People first took notice of the talented actor during his performance in Yves Simoneau’s In the Shadow of the Wind.

Morgane Polanski is a French actress and model, best known for her role as Princess Gisla on the show. Princess Ellisif was the Danish princess and wife of Earl Vik. Capturing the love and attention of King Harald, the Princess promised him she would stay by his side while he was occupied in becoming a conqueror and ruler.
Later on in the series, she attempted to pull a knife out on Harald in the middle of sex, prompting Halfdan to kill her.
Sophie Vavasseur - Princess Ellisif
Sophie Vavasseur is an Irish actress, best known for playing the award-nominated leading role of Evelyn Doyle in the film Evelyn.
Aside from her appearances in films and on stage, Vavasseur actually had a significant amount of experience in advertisements and voice-overs. She’s also seen in the films Resident Evil: Apocalypse and Twang.
Jonathan Rhys Meyers - Bishop Heahmund
Bishop Heahmund is a Bishop Warrior and Saxon Bishop of Sherborne. He was first introduced in Season 1, appearing to comfort Widow Ordlaf of her husband’s death.
What complicates his character is that despite being a true follower of Christianity and God, he still coaxes Widow Ordlaf into brutal sex with him. He also engages in alcohol consumption and, obviously being a Warrior, participates in battles.
Jonathan Rhys Meyers - Bishop Heahmund
Jonathan Rhys Meyers is an Irish actor, well known for his roles in films that include Velvet Goldmine, Match Point, Bend It Like Beckham, and Mission: Impossible III. He also appeared on television as Elvis Presley in the miniseries Elvis.
His performance on the series actually earned him a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor - Miniseries or Television Film. His dashing looks also brought him to be the face model for a number of Hugo Boss fragrances campaigns.

Kassia is a nun and abbess in Constantinople. Appearing to already be of noble birth, Kassia was raised in a wealthy family and grew up to be exceptionally beautiful and intelligent.

Karima Adebibe, or more famously known as Karima McAdams, is a Moroccan-English actress and fashion model. Though she was born in England, she actually started her modeling career growing up in Morocco. This paved the way for her to be selected as one of the models for Lara Croft in the widely renowned video game series, Tomb Raider.
Aside from her appearance on Vikings, Karima is also most recently seen in the shows, Fearless and Deep State.

Ealhswith is the mother of Judith, Ecgberht, and Bjaela, and wife of King Aelle.
She is first introduced on the show in Season 1, accompanying King Aelle and Acgberht in welcoming Aethelwulf, Aelle’s brother who eventually is given the responsibility of leading King Aelle’s army against the Northmen.

Cathy White is a talented actress originally from Belfast. She first had her acting experience training in the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London.
Amongst her other theatre works, she became a regular at both the Peacock Theatre and the Abbey Theatre when she moved to Dublin. White is also seen in films, including Veronica Gerin, Albert Nobbs, and The General.

Halfdan the Black was the brother of King Harald. He was considered to be an impressive warrior who was equipped with both a sword and an ax during battle.
His character is first introduced in Season 4 as he arrived in Kattegat, along with the rest of King Harald’s ships and warriors.

Bjorn Lothbrok is the son of Ragnar Lothbrok and Lagertha, husband of Torvi, and heir of Kattegat. He was born to be just like his wise father: loyal and wise. These redeeming qualities made Bjorn solidify a name for himself as an intimidating warrior, explorer, and leader.
He also takes after his father for his constant desire for exploration and adventure.
Alexander Ludwig - Bjorn Lothbrok
Alexander Ludwig is a young Canadian actor, model, and singer, known for his notable appearances in the hit films The Seeker: The Dark Is Rising and The Hunger Games.
His performance as Cato on The Hunger Games even brought him two Teen Choice Awards for Best Movie Villain. Ludwig is currently taking up a theatre major at the University.
Carrie Crowley - Elisef
Elisef was Erik’s wife. She is first seen in Season 1 among the crowd in Kattegat as Ragnar’s ship docks. Upon seeing her husband return alive, she mercifully thanks the gods for his safe return. Erik immediately discloses to her the amount of treasure and slaves they had brought back with them.
However, he is unfortunately murdered as the season goes by. Elisef, along with Lief, are then seen mourning over Erik’s lifeless body.

Carrie Crowley is an Irish actress, and former radio and television presenter. She made appearances on several television shows that include The Morbergs and Echo Island.
The talented actress even had the opportunity of having her own chat show called Limelight. She is more recently seen taking on roles on shows like The Clinic, School Run, and An Crisis.

Hild was a young servant in Kattegat that captured the interest and attention of Ragnar. Ragnar’s wife, Aslaug, takes notice of Ragnar’s interest in Hild and warns Hild of who she becomes familiar with. Filled with jealousy, Aslaug then confronts her inebriated husband about his attraction to Hild.
Ragnar decides to lie to Aslaug and claims that he is not interested in sleeping with other women.

Anna Åström is a young Swedish actress born in Lerum, Sweden. She was best known for her performance on the film, Us, alongside actors Gustaf Skarsgård and Kevin Naz.
Besides playing Hild on Vikings, she also starred in her roles as Cicci in the film, Pure, and as Elin in the television series, Black Lake.

Harbard a mysterious wanderer who apparently is not what he seems.
He shows up unexpectedly in Kattegat while Ragnar and his men are caught up in a raid. Along the way, Harbard will have an overpowering effect on Siggy, Helga, and Aslaug, as they see him in the same dream, foreshadowing his arrival.

Kevin Durand is a very experienced Canadian actor and singer, appearing in numerous independent and major studio features that range from drama to comedies to action thrillers to science fiction. The talented man is best known for playing the roles of Vasiliy Fet in The Strain, Martin Keamy in Lost, Joshua in Dark Angel, Fred J. Dukes/The Blob in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Little John in Robin Hood, Jeeves Tremor in Smokin’ Aces, Gabriel in Legion, and Carlos in The Butterfly Effect. But wait! It isn’t over.
Durand even received a 2012 Best Supporting Actor Genie nomination for his performance as Lenny Jackson in Edwin Boyd: Citizen Gangster. Whew!
Jefferson Hall - Torstein
Torstein is Ragnar and Floki’s good friend, as well as one of the first Viking warriors to sail west with Ragnar to England. He is first introduced in Season 1, visiting Ragnar at the home of Floki after being wounded during the attack of Earl Haraldson on his home.
It was here that he met and developed an interest in Helga, who is later invited by Floki into bed with them.
Jefferson Hall - Torstein
Though Torstein had a bushy beard and wavy golden hair on the show, Jefferson Hall looks vastly different in real life.
